Model for LGUs! Davao Occidental Sets Up ‘Manok Pinoy’ Breeding Center

The Province of Davao Occidental is now the second Local Government Unit (LGU) to establish a Multiplier Farm and Learning Center for “Manok Pinoy” free-range chicken.
Yesterday, Davao Occidental Agriculturist Nally Bangoy led a huge group of agriculturists and farmers who visited my farm to acquire breeding materials of the free-range chicken which I bred and developed 12 years ago.
With 22 sets of “Manok Pinoy” breeders, the Davao Occ. Multiplier Farm and Learning Center aims to produce breeders which would be distributed to poor farming families who in turn will breed these for food and livelihood.
Last week, Cagwait, Surigao del Sur Mayor Glenn Batiancilla also visited the farm to seek advice on how to start a Manok Pinoy breeding program.
The establishment of breeder farms for free-range chicken in all provinces and towns has been my dream.
Rural families should be guided and supported by LGUs in achieving food security.
