Biggest Small Ruminants Breeding Facility Rises In Makilala, North Cotabato!

In the next few months, 3,500 outstanding Dorper Sheep Breeders from Australia will arrive in Makilala, North Cotabato to start the biggest breeding program for Small Ruminants in the whole country.
Funded by the Department of Agriculture Bureau of Animal Industry National Livestock Program, the Mindanao Small Ruminants Nucleus Farm (MSNF) will be the source of outstanding breeders for distribution all over the country.
It will be managed by a young veterinarian from Antipas, North Cotabato, Dr. Roland Fajardo, who finished his Masteral Course in Advanced Animal Genetics in Hungary Magna Cum Laude, for a local farmers group, the COLIPAA Cooperative.
All breeders produced by the MSRNF will be included in a genetic database to ensure that only quality breeding materials are distributed to farmers.
This was a project which was envisioned by DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. which I and the late Undersecretary DV Savellano conceptualized.
It is now under the BAI NLP Program under Undersecretary Dante Palabrica.
