These photos of cracked earth in the town of Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao del Sur show a great irony.
The town is one of the many agricultural municipalities located in the 250,000-hectare periphery of the Liguasan and Libungan-Torreta Marsh.
These areas have very shallow water table and are flooded during the rainy season.
There is so much water underneath.
I bet a 5-meter deep tube well will give farmers in these areas free-flowing water.
Installing a Solar-Powered Shallow Tube Well would even be better because one unit could irrigate up to 10-hectares.
Kailangan lang talaga ng konting imagination at determination.
