As a major step towards the Agro-Industrialization of North Cotabato, I have pledged my all-out support for the Libungan River Hydro-Power Project spearheaded by Alamada Mayor Jesus Sacdalan and Cong. Joel Sacdalan.
The Libungan Hydro-Power Project will not only generate electric power which will address the age-old power outages in North Cotabato but also provide potable water for the residents of Alamada, Libungan, Pigcawayan, Midsayap, Aleosan and Pikit.
Yesterday, I and Vice Governor Efren Piñol met with Mayor Sacdalan and Cong. Sacdalan to discuss ways to address the legal impediments and opposition by top politicians of the province to the project.
We agreed that the project must be supported because it will have a major impact on the development of the province, including the end to the brownouts, in addition to establishing a Water System complete with filtration facilities to provide residents of the six PPALMA towns safe drinking water.
In a meeting recently with National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Administrator Eddie Guillen, the Libungan Hydro-Power Dam was identified as an additional source of irrigation water in the upper areas not served by the existing Libungan River Irrigation System.
To improve the lives of our people and achieve the goal of making Cotabato a model of Agro-Industrialization, we have to support and implement big ticket projects like the Libungan Hydro Power Dam.
