With the Holy Week respite from the campaign trail, I was able to check on the three batches of Manok Pinoy chicks which are now in the free range.
I found the chicks to be healthy attaining weight gain which could not be achieved by native chicken breeds.
The 2.5-months old chicks in the first batch now weigh between 500 to 600 grams.
In another 30 days, I expect them to weigh between 1 to 1.2 kilos, the ideal weight for Lechon Manok or Barbecue.
Every week, we load almost 1,000 eggs in our incubators.
With God’s grace, Free-Range Chicken Farming will be among the first livelihood projects we will introduce to farming families in North Cotabato.
With a huge market demand for Free-Range Chicken, this project will effectively address Rural Poverty while contributing to Food Security.
