1st Batch Of Spanish Goats Arriving End Of April!

The first batch of Spanish Goats to be used in the upgrading program for Philippine Goats will arrive April 27.
The huge meat Goats which came from California and Texas will be transported to a quarantine facility in Makilala, North Cotabato.
Weighing between 50 to 70 kilos each, the Spanish Goats will be raised in the Mindanao Small Ruminants Nucleus Farm (MSRNF), a project of the Department of Agriculture in partnership of a local farmers cooperative, COLIPAA Coop.
The facility envisioned by DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. will serve as the source of breeding materials which will be distributed all over the country to improve goat meat production.
I helped in designing the Small Ruminants Nucleus Farm Program which will also include 3,500 Dorper Sheep Breeders from Australia.
A total of 140 Spanish Goat breeders will be used in a scientific breeding program managed by Dr. Roland Fajardo, a veterinarian from Antipas, North Cotabato who graduated Magna Cum Laude in his Masteral Course in Advanced Animal Genetics in Hungary.
