There is nothing more joyful to a farmer than seeing the seeds he planted sprouting from the ground.
This was what I felt today when I checked on the trial plots where we sowed seeds of two Soybeans varieties from India.
The seeds, provided to me by a Filipino seed company, Green and Grow Teknologies, were planted in elevated plots in my farm on Jan. 2.
These two non-GMO varieties from India, GZ 83 and GZ 111, will undergo performance study in Mindanao conditions.
Arriving from Manila early today, I was pleasantly surprised to see the seeds have started to pop out from the plots.
The fact that the seeds sprouted fast is already a good sign for a farmer like me.
Now, I will have to nurture these young plants until they bear pods ready for harvest 96 days from today.
If these new varieties perform well, we will be able to boost our Soybeans farming in the country.
