All is set and ready for the Farmers Forum on Tilapia, Soybeans and Sorghum Farming sponsored by the City Government of Kidapawan tomorrow, Jan. 10 starting at 8 a.m.
The Forum is open to the farmers of Kidapawan City and nearby areas who are interested in learning new technology in raising Tilapia in freshwater ponds or containers and the planting of Sorghum and Soybeans.
After the morning session, participants will be invited to a guided tour of the Southseas Agri-Aqua Ventures, Inc. Multi-Species Hatchery in Paco, Kidapawan City.
A new Tilapia Hybrid, SAAVI PML71-A Tilapia Hybrid, developed by Fil-Am farmer-scientist Rocky French by crossing two locally available Tilapia breeds to produce a line with hybrid vigor will also be launched tomorrow.
Officials of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) who provided the breeding materials along with former Secretary Mike Sueno will also be present during the launching of the Tilapia Hybrid.
The lecture on Tilapia Farming to be conducted by Rocky French will include proper pond preparation and feeding program.
Charoen Pokphand Foods Philippines (CP Foods) Mindanao Head Marjun Villanueva will introduce the new CPF Aqua Feeds for Tilapia, Bangus and Hito using locally available feed materials.
I will be making the presentation on Soybeans and Sorghum farming with the support of our technical team as we encourage farmers to embrace these new crops because of their critical importance to the poultry, hog and ruminants industry of the country.
The registration will start at 8 a.m. in the Convention Hall of the Kidapawan City Hall with Mayor Jose Paolo M. Evangelista welcoming the participants.
Admission to the Forum is free and the City Government Government will provide food and snacks.
