A blogsite critical of the administration posted an outrageous meme showing me while allegedly scolding F/B GEM-VER cook, Richard Blaza, contrasted with a photo showing Vice President Leni Robredo in a happy scene with Capt Junel Insigne and his family.
“Pinagalitan” says the caption of the photo showing me and Blaza taken in my office June 17.
“Pinakinggan” says the caption showing Vice President Robredo and the Insigne family, apparently in the home of the boat patron on June 21.
The objective of the meme is very obvious – project the Secretary of Agriculture as a heartless person who was scolding a poor fisherman in contrast to the compassionate personality of the Vice President.
I do not know the Vice President that well to judge her personality or interpret her body language.
But just the same, the people who are trying to picture me as a heartless official who intimidated Blaza just so I could get what I wanted do not also know the real Manny Piñol.
In all of the years that I have been in public service, I have never berated or embarrassed any of my employees in public.
This is something that I have adhered to in all of the years that I spent in public service knowing that a person’s dignity is his greatest treasure.
I have a simple dare to those behind this despicable lie:
Kung may pruweba kayo at ebidensya na pinapagalitan o pinagalitan ko si Blaza samantalang nasa opisina ko sya, ilabas nyo.
I challenge the people behind the peddling of this brazen lie: Patunayan nyo na pinagalitan ko si Blaza. Kausapin nyo si Richard. Nandyan lang naman sya sa Occidental Mindoro.
Hingan nyo ng pormal na pahayag o affidavit para mapapatotohanan ang inyong paratang.
O pati si Kapitan Insigne na nakatawa kasama si Vice President Robredo. I am sure na kung totoo yong sinasabi ninyo na tinakot ko sya, he would have shared this with the Vice President.
Hindi ako makapaniwala na meron palang mga halang na kaluluwa na kayang sirain ang imahe ng isang tao para lang magmukhang Santo ang kanilang ini-idolo.
Kung hindi nyo magawa yan sa loob ng isang linggo, mapapatunayan ng taong bayan na isang pulotong kayo ng mga manlilinlang at mga sinungaling.
This early, however, I am telling you, I will burn you on this issue just like how I burned you with the “defective fishing boat” issue.
I will prove that you are a bunch of liars!
