A QUICK DINNER IN ICONIC MA MON LUK RESTAURANT By Manny Piñol

Back from a day-long trip to the typhoon ravaged provinces of Catanduanes and Camarines Sur tonight, I felt so tired that all that I wanted was just a light and quick meal before hitting the sack.
A steaming hot Mami and siopao would be perfect.
And if it is Mami you like, the best place in town is still the iconic Ma Mon Luk on Quezon Blvd. In Quezon City.
Walking in, I bumped into another icon, Manoling Morato, who posed for some photos with me.
Ma Mon Luk is still the same. The old laminated menu card is almost yellow and the Mami and siopao still tasted good.
Even the price. P1,040 for five Mami, two Siopao, fried rice and half fried chicken is still comparatively low.
All these were what kept my former sportswriting buddies Recah Trinidad, Al Mendoza, Ding Marcelo, Rey Bancod, Tito Talao, the late Raffy Japa, Albert Garcia and the wild Manolet Santiago on coming back to Ma Mon Luk.
