A damning proof that Vice President Jejomar Binay indeed owns the controversial Rosario, Batangas property – an audio recording made by a Hongkong-based journalist where he admitted ownership of the land – was presented today during the continuation of the Senate Blue Ribbon sub-committee hearing on alleged unexplained wealth of the country’s second highest official, including the alleged overprice in the construction of government buildings in Makati when he was Mayor.
Journalist Raissa Robles, who was then writing for the South China Morning Post of Hongkong, played excerpts of her interview with the newly elected Vice President in 2010.
In a portion of the interview Robles asked Binay about the Batangas property and he admitted that he bought the property for P30 per square meter.
Confronted with the damning evidence, however, Binay’s spokesperson for political affairs Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla explained that Robles misinterpreted the Vice President’s answer.
