AFP Retirees Corp.! Bamboo, Agarwood Farms Inside Military Reservations

The proposal presented to me by a Marines General of organizing retired officers and men of the Corps to form an Agricultural Corporation, rekindled my idea to turn the vast military reservations in the country into agricultural production zones.
Marines Deputy Commandant Brig. Gen. Romeo Racadio, who hails from my hometown Mlang in Cotabato, said he thought of organizing the retired officers and men to start an income-earning venture in agriculture to give them added income in their twilight years.
“Most of the retirees just live off their pensions which is not enough to give them a comfortable life after retirement,” he told me when he visited my farm last Sunday.
I suggested that instead of just an association of retired members of the Corps, his idea should be expanded to include retirees from other branches of the Armed Forces, including the National Police.
It is a very doable and viable idea as this fits perfectly with my proposal to make use of Military Reservations for the production of Bamboo and Agarwood, among others.
The world market demand for processed bamboo products is placed at P5-Trillion by 2030 while Agarwood enjoys a niche market because of the Oud Oil Production.
The country has so many vast military reservations ideal for the planting of these two very valuable commodities with a huge world market demand.
Camp Peralta Jr. in Jamindan, Capiz is 33,310 hectares camp and the only military installation with five waterfalls.
Fort Magsaysay located in the boundaries of Nueva Ecija and Aurora Provinces, originally 73,000-hectares, has 35,000 hectares.
The biggest military reservation in an ideal agricultural location is the 42,000-hectare Kibaritan Military Reservation in Southern Bukidnon.
Utilizing these vast areas in the production of Giant Bamboo and Agarwood Oil could earn billions for the retirees and the Department of National Defense.
More than that, this could generate foreign exchange earnings to boost the Philippine Economy, create jobs and business opportunities and most of all, contribute to the Greening Program of the Philippines.
All that is needed is for a respected retired military officer to lead the formation of the corporation.
As an Agriculture Advocate, I am willing and ready to craft the blueprint of this program and link up the proposed corporation to the market.
