After a field demonstration of how modern 4-wheel drive tractors could plow faster than a herd of Carabao used in “Payatak,” a farmers forum was held at the Municipal gymnasium here.
Cong. Edwin Ong and Catubig Mayor Galahad Vicencio joined officials of the DA and PhilRice in the launching of the program.
The Philippine Coconut Authority was also present led by its administrator Romulo dela Rosa.
By the next planting season, the DA will field farm equipment and establish a rice processing complex in Catubig.
A 200-hectare rice seeds production area suprrvised by PhilRice will also be established.
The target is to improve yield from 2-metric tons now to 6-metric tons in two years.
