In our continuing advocacy to improve farming techniques, we have adopted and applied what we have learned from other farmers.
A fellow chicken raiser introduced to me a new method of rearing newly-hatched chicks until they are a month old.
It is actually a Circular Brooder using one GI sheet attached at both ends and made to stand on one side to form a circle.
Rice hull is placed as litter and two 50-watt bulbs are used to provide heat.
I would rate this brooding system as “Excellent” because mortality due to trampling in a stampede in a 4-cornered brooder has been eliminated.
After one month when all of the vaccination regimens have been completed, we transfer the healthy chicks to a bigger area on the ground.
Take a look at this brooding system. You may find this useful.
