First, they composed and sang a song to ask Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte to run for President.
Now that Duterte has agreed to run, musicians and artists supporting him have composed another song pledging that they will support the call for change by starting it themselves.
Following a very successful hit “Takbo,” a song believed to have greatly influenced Mayor Duterte’s decision to run for President, OPM singers have composed “Ako Ang Pagbabago.”
Posted on youtube.com on Dec. 6, the song was composed by Kettle Mata who calls himself Climax and features Jay Durias, Jimmy Bondoc, Njel de Mesa, Thor, Lolita Carbon, Nonoy Tan, Paolo Santos, Pido, NDMsingers & NDMballadeers, Momoy Palaboy, Luke Mejares, Kiko Versoza, Kris Angelica, Sen. Alan, Ren & Lino Cayetano, The Crib, Marc Pingris and surprisingly, me.
The music video produced by Noel de Mesa sings about the expected change under a Duterte Presidency but the singer emphasises that change should start with him.
The song carries a powerful message about the problems confronting Philippine society today, the almost unabated criminality, the proliferation of drugs and corruption.
Duterte enjoys massive support from volunteer singers and artists who tour the country performing in a concert called MAD for Change or Musicians and Artists For Duterte.
