2-DAY VEGETABLE FESTIVAL
OPENS TODAY AT BPI MANILA
About 30 tons of fresh vegetables at prices 50% lower than those found in Metro Manila markets will be sold by farmers themselves starting 5 a.m. today at the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) Compound in San Andres, Manila.
The fresh vegetables include:
– Carrots – P95/kilo
– Cabbage – P70/kilo
– Sili – P80/kilo
– Brocolli and Cauliflower
– Radish
– Eggplants and many more
Also available today are the following:
– Refined Sugar – P49/kilo
– Cardava Banana P17/kilo
– Assorted fruits from Davao and Central Mindanao
– Tilapia from Pampanga
– Fish and canned sardines from Zamboanga
There will also be a business matching session between subdivision homeowners cooperatives, market vendors associations and supermarkets, on one hand, and the farmers.
The business matching is expected to establish a direct market linkage between the farmers and the direct buyers to cut out profiteers who have been manipulating the prices.
The TienDA Farmers and Fisherfolks Outlet will open at 5 a.m. today and will last until tomorrow, Saturday.
Next week, the direct deliveries will start to those who will order vegetables from the farmers.
