Another outstanding city VIGAN NAMED ONE OF 7 WORLD’S WONDER CITIES

Vigan City in Ilocos Sur has emerged as one of the New 7 Wonder Cities of the World in a global campaign that searched for the most incredible cities of the world through online votes.
The New 7 Wonders Cities is a brainchild of Swiss-born filmmaker and explorer Bernard Weber, whose goal was to look for the best attractions around the world. In 2007, Weber initially asked which seven wonders was the greatest in the world and he received more than 100 million votes across the globe. Among the winners then were the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China.
This time, Weber initiated another campaign on the world’s seven wonder cities. Through votes made on the site n7w.com/en/cities, a total of 28 finalists emerged before another round of votes whittled down the list to top 21 in July, and to the top 7 this month. Among the 28 finalists were Barcelona (Spain), Chicago (USA), and Bangkok (Thailand). Voting for the final list ended on Sunday, December 7.
Joining Vigan in the list of New 7 Wonder Cities are Beirut (Lebanon), Doha (Qatar), Durban (South Africa), Havana (Cuba), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and La Paz (Bolivia).
Vigan, which has well-preserved Spanish colonial churches and homes as part of its attraction, is the only city in the Philippines included in the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and Monuments. It has also been recognized by UNESCO for Best Practice in World Heritage Site Management and is the third oldest Spanish settlement in the country.
