ANOTHER TALE OF A POOR GIRL WHO DID NOT GO TO COLLEGE

My post about the beautiful vegetable vendor in Makilala, North Cotabato, generated so much interest among the followers of this facebook page and this prompted me to ask my people to get more details from her.
Well, for those who are enamored with the beauty of the Vegetable Stall Beauty, here are the details.
Her name is Girlie Juntilla, 22, years old, and she is from Balugan, Makilala.
Just as I suspected, Girlie was not able to go to college. She was only able to finish high school and had to work as a vegetable vendor because of poverty.
The story about Girlie, also elicited reactions from other girls like her who were not able to go to college because of poverty.
I am sharing with you a message from Jhoy dela Vega, another North Cotabato girl who dreamed of becoming a nurse but ended up as a caregiver because of poverty.
I took liberty in editing her cryptic message to make it more understandableto other readers. Here is Jhoy’s message.
“Wow! Well nabasa ko ito, I can’t help myself but cry.
“Ganito din ako eh. Di man lang nbaigyan ng chance makapagtapos ng college dahil sa kahirapan. Kaya kung pwede lang ibalik yong time, gusto ko ibalik.
“Well, nasa pagsisikap din yan. Sayo magandang Binibini hwag mo hayaang dyan hihinto ang pangarap mo. Oo, matino yang work mo pero wag kang titigil mangarap. Maraming opportunity naghihintay sayo.
“Mahirap din kami pero di ko hinayaan na ang kahirapan na yon ang sisira sa pangarap ko.
“Kaya I’m so blessed isa ako sa nabiyayaan ng scholarship ng Tesda North Cotabato with the help of Kuya Joey Recimilla and Dr. Moises Renan Sungcad dahil sa tulong nila,
“Nakapagtapos ako ng Caregiver as a Tesda Scholar. Kabila ng pangarap kung mging nurse, niliitan ko lang pangarap ko. And now I’m a successful Caregiver here in Singapore.”
“Kaya to you Miss Beautiful Girl, mangarap ka at be thankful to Gov. Kaya nga, If at first you don’t succeed try and try again..
“We should develop the virtue of patience, fortitude and perseverance. It is good thing to never get discouraged to rise stronger after each fall because every end is a beginning. But it all depends how you will look at it.
“You will not succeed if you will concentrate only in your failures. But if you see beyond your failures and raise your hands towards the success that lies in the future, that success will be yours.
“I learned this lesson from you Gov. I see how positive you are. You are my Idol ever. I dream for so long to meet you in person and say thank you.
“Soon I can meet you and can shake hands with my idol. Can I?”
