FREE-RANGE MANOK PINOY
Seven years after I started developing a new strain of free-range upgraded native chicken, Manok Pinoy will be offered for the first time to Metro Manila consumers.
It will be offered as “Litson Manok Pinoy” roasted in charcoal stuffed with Tanglad (Lemon Grass), Tamarind leaves and local Basil called “Sangig.”
There will only be 150 heads of “Litson Manok Pinoy” to be sold tomorrow as part of our market test.
I started breeding a new strain of free-range native chicken seven years ago as part of an effort to improve the Philippine backyard chicken.
Philippine native chicken are slow growers, poor egg layers and carry very thin meat mass.
I worked on these weak points of the native chicken and developed Manok Pinoy, a name which I registered with the Intellectual Property Office.
Tomorrow, I will check how Metro Manila chicken lovers will accept Manok Pinoy
As the breeder of this new strain, I am excited to know whether the years of hard work have paid off.
