Back-up Crop! Sorghum Survives Drought, Fall Army Worm Attack

In the two years that our small company,Southseas Agri-Aqua Ventures Inc.had worked on Sorghum propagation, we were able to establish that it could withstand long dry spells and even survive attack by the dreaded Fall Army Worm (FAW).
These two distinct characteristics of Sorghum make it an ideal back-up crop to Corn as major component of poultry, livestock and even Aqua feeds.
The country faces a shortfall on Corn production as El Niño has affected many parts of Luzon and Visayas.
In Central Mindanao, howe er, farmers who have adopted Sorghum as a new crop are hardly affected.
Another advantage of Sorghum is the fact that it grows ratoons or young tillers after the stalks are cut during the first harvest, allowing farmers two more croppings even the need to plow the field and replant.
