The Untold Truth About Rice Tariffication Law

The Economic Managers who pushed for the opening of the Philippine market to the unimpeded entry of imported rice, promised two things:

1. The price of rice in the market will be reduced by as much as P7 per kilo;

2. The rice farmers will enjoy the benefits of the RTL because the P10-B tariff collected will boost their production and improve the rice industry.

Everybody knows, except perhaps the proponents of the RTL, that the promises never came true.

Mas mahal ang bigas ngayon kumpara noong 2018 before the artificial rice crisis at bumagsak ang presyo ng palay na produkto ng magsasaka mula P20 per to only P14 now, even as low as P10 kapag umuulan.

Bakit pumalpak ang RTL?

Heto ang paliwanag na ginawa ko noong ako pa ang Chairman ng Mindanao Development Authority.

Kailangan talagang baguhin ang RTL.
