On the 9th day since we planted Soybeans seeds in the Luvimin, Kidapawan City, I visited the Model Farm early this morning to check on the germination.
I was very happy with what I saw because 8 days after sowing, 80% of the seeds had sprouted while the rest are breaking through the ground.
I was pleased with what I saw and I feel very excited to see the outcome of our new planting protocols for Soybeans.
Where before we had wider distance between rows at 27 inches, in the Luvimin Model Farm we narrowed the rows to 17 inches.
Our seeding density was also increased from 30 kilos to 100 kilos per hectare following U.S. standards.
The Luvimin, Kidapawan Soybeans Model Farm is a 12-hectare area owned by the Dimaano-Morales Family who agreed to partner with us in the project.
Three months from today, we will be harvesting these Soybeans and we would know if our improvements in the planting protocol would give us our target yield of 3-metric tons per hectare.
