Big Feed Mill Company Ready To Buy Corn, Sorghum, Soybeans From North Cotabato Farmers

Even before the elections for Governor and other political positions could be held, I have already started laying down the foundations of a program which would boost the production of three very important crops, Corn, Sorghum and Soybeans.
Yesterday, I contacted one of the top executives of a huge Feed Milling Company in the Philippines and expressed my intention to engage the company in the marketing of Corn, Sorghum and Soybeans, three very important materials in poultry and livestock feeds formulation.
North Cotabato is one of the biggest Corn producers in the Southern Philippines but unpredictable farm gate prices have dampened the planting intentions of farmers.
Over 70% of the province’s Corn farmers have shifted to other crops as farm gate prices dropped to as low as P8, resulting in huge losses for farmers.
To boost Corn Production, along with two new crops, Sorghum and Soybeans, I asked the Feed Mill executive yesterday to ask if his company would be interested in entering into a marketing agreement with our farmers in North Cotabato.
Just as I expected, he accepted the proposal and expressed appreciation to the idea of a province producing the commodities the company needs for feeds formulation.
Aside from the engagement with the big feed mills, I also plan to introduce the idea of establishing our own local feed mill to produce feeds for our local hog and poultry farmers.
This would provide poultry and livestock farmers access to affordable feeds which would make them competitive in the market.
With all these programs in place, I would be ready to jump from the starting block on Day 1 should I, with God’s grace, win as Governor of North Cotabato.
