Roxas, Isabela – Even with light rains brought by a new storm hitting Northern Luzon early today, I ventured to visit a newly established fruit tree farm owned by my friend, Vic Calderon, just a few kilometers away from the town proper.
The farm now has over 3,000 hills of Pomelo which came as seedlings from Mati, Davao Oriental.
The Pomelo Farm could be the biggest and most modern in Luzon.
With the help of veteran nursery man Romie “Ben” Sotito, a Solar Powered Irrigation System provides water to each and every hill using the drip system.
Other parts of the almost 50-hectare property is planted to Coconut and Rambutan.
Soon, Vic will establish a 1-hectare Durian Trial Farm and a 10-hectare EVIARC Sweet Jackfruit Farm.
The success of this farm could lead to a massive fruit tree planting spree in this vast area of the country.
