By Manny Piñol
The newly relaunched boxing program, Blow By Blow Reloaded, airs for the fourth time at 2 p.m. today with two exciting fights featuring some of the country’s best boxing prospects.
I will be hosting today’s episode until after the end of the elections in June this year because the show’s main host, 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, is a candidate for the Senate.
While it is not clear whether the prohibition for candidates to host TV programs or other similar media exposures starts upon the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy or at the start of the campaign, Manny has opted to take the safe side by temporarily yielding the hosting of the show to me.
Blow By Blow Reloaded is promoted by veteran boxing promoter Lito Mondejar, who also promoted the original Blow By Blow 20 years ago which produced champions, notably Manny Pacquiao.
I am actually the producer of the TV show which is a co-production effort of Blow By Blow Promotions and ABC Sports TV5 with Black Mamba Energy Drink as the major sponsor.
Along with Gerry Garcia, son of my late friend Grego, I also do the ringside commentary. Gerry is a very competent boxing information provider because he literally grew up with the boxing gloves in front of him.
Today’s Blow By Blow Reloaded episode will feature the fights between mini flyweights Rene Mark Cuarto of the Manny Pacquiao Boxing Team and Jerome Clavite of the Olivetting Boxing Club of Biñan, Laguna in a card held in Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
In the main event, a young undefeated flyweight, Genesis Libranza, also of the Manny Pacqiao Boxing Team, will battle it out for 10 rounds with Renerio Arizala of Quezon City.
The show starts right before the games of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
Buy your popcorn early or better still, chill the beer and prepare the chicharon and join me in today’s edition of Blow By Blow Reloaded 2 p.m. on Sports TV5.
