One day after my farm neighbors, the Malaluan Family in Paco, Kidapawan City, granted my request to gather scions and roots of the Breadfruit Tree growing in their farm, we have started our “Kolo” Propagation Program.
The “Kolo” scions (sn: Artocarpus altilis) gathered by plant propagator Junjun Salinas were grafted to “Tipolo” wildlings growing in a forested area of my farm.
There are native “Tipolo” trees (sn: Artocarpus blancoi) which belong to the same family as “Camansi” and “Kolo” growing in a portion of my farm.
The Tipolo trees scattered seeds around them which germinated and are now growing as wildlings.
By grafting “Kolo” scions on hundreds of “Tipolo” wildlings, we will soon develop a virtual Breadfruit Forest where we will not only harvest the sought-after breadfruit but also produce scions and roots for proagation.
