As we prepare North Cotabato to become an Agricultural Powerhouse and Model of the Integrated Farming System, we are steadfastly pursuing the propagation of a crop which is very critical to the success of our Poultry, Livestock and Inland Aquaculture Programs.
This week, we harvested about 30 kilos of Soybeans seeds which we produced from out of just two seeds that survived from the over 2,500 seeds sent to me by my American friend, Coby Kriegshauser.
Soon, we will also be harvesting another 25 kilos from the seeds of the Canadian Soybeans given to me by a follower and supporter, Joel Quiaoit.
These seeds would be enough to cover two hectares for our 4th Propagation Cycle and barring any unforeseen problems, we could expect to produce seeds good for 200 hectares on the 5th Cycle.
That will be the start of the Soybeans Industry Development Program for North Cotabato.
For the 6th Cycle, we could cover 20,000 hectares and Soybeans could be planted as rotational crop to Corn and Upland Rice.
Along with Corn, Sorghum and Copra Meal, our Soybeans in North Cotabato will complete the basic ingredients that we need to support our Poultry, Livestock, Inland Aquaculture and Halal Beef Production Programs.
It will not be easy and it will not be quick but perseverance will take us to our dreamed Agricultural Revolution in North Cotabato.
