Flying over the forests of Northern Samar yesterday morning, I saw worrisome illegal logging activities which apparently have not been monitored by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
This forest area could be somewhere between Catubig and Las Navas as we were flying south from Mapanas.
Illegal logging operations, while under the scope of the DENR, has always been a serious problem for Agriculture because without the forest cover, the rivers will run dry.
Of course, it follows that when the rivers run dry, there is no agriculture to speak of.
I am calling on our co-workers in the DENR to please dispatch a helicopter to fly over the area and check out these illegal logging operations.
