Israel has a land area of 2.2-million hectares, 60% of which is desert.
It has a rainfall of 360mm and only four major rivers.
The Philippines has a land area of 30-million hectares of fertile land.
We have a rainfall of up to 4,000mm every year and about 1,000 living rivers and springs.
The Philippines also has the 5th longest coastline in the world with 36,298 kilometers.
Strangely, while Israel exports food to its neighbors, the Philippines relies on imports.
I actually believe that we, Filipinos, not just the Israelis, are also God’s Chosen People with all the blessings we have around us.
The only difference is the Israelis recognize and value every precious resource they have.
We, Filipinos, on the other hand, ignore our blessings and take our resources for granted.
In times of crisis, the Israelis unite and fight as one.
In times of difficulties, we, Filipinos, blame one another and fight among ourselves.
We find faults and weaknesses instead of discovering the goodness in each one of us.
Let’s figure this out and ask ourselves – “Quo vadis Philippines?”
