A town in Surigao del Sur will soon establish a Multiplier Farm for Manok Pinoy to serve as the source of free-range chicken breeding materials to be distributed to poor families.
Cagwait, Surigao del Sur Mayor Glenn Batiancilla and four staff traveled some 900 kilometers to Kidapawan City and back spending 20 hours on the road to visit me in the farm yesterday.
On my suggestion, Mayor Batiancilla said he will first establish a municipal Manok Pinoy breeding farm which will produce materials to be given out to poor families in the town’s 11 barangays.
It will also serve as the learning center for the beneficiary-families.
The multiplier farm will start with 10 sets of Manok Pinoy, 10 cockerels and 50 pullets.
In one year, the Multiplier Farm could produce enough trios of one cockerel and two pullets for the poor families.
I am pleased that we have local leaders like Mayor Batiancilla who are willing to take long trips in search for opportunities to lift their people out of poverty.
