One of the pleasant discoveries I made today was that the Sorghum we planted in the lowlands of Mlang and Kidapawan City could be harvested from the 85th to the 90th day.
Normally, Sorghum reaches maturity in 105 days.
Harvesting Sorghum from the 85th to the 90th day is a major development because an early first harvest would mean an even faster 2nd harvest or first ratoon.
This means that if the first and second harvests are made from the 75th to the 80th day, there would be enough time for a fourth cropping of Soybeans in one year.
This is perfect for our rotational cropping program involving Sorghum and Soybeans.
(First photos show the field in New Esperanza, Mlang, North Cotabato planted with Soybeans Oct. 17, 2023 and the second frames showing harvestable Sorghum were taken today.)
