Damage caused by El Niño P420-M INSURANCE PAYMENTS READIED FOR 33,338 FARMERS

Philippine Crop Insurance President Atty. Jovy Bernabe has reported that the insurance agency of the Department of Agriculture is now releasing insurance payments to farmers whose crops were damaged by El Niño.
Here is Atty. Bernabe’s report:
Dear Sec. Manny Piñol,
Hi Sir.
May I respectfully report to you Sir that the PCIC has already started to release to our insured farmers their indemnity checks for losses they have incurred due to drought caused by El Niño.
Based on the notices of loss filed by the farmers in our regional offices as of today, the estimated indemnity that PCIC will pay in the next couple of weeks is almost P420M for 36,338 farmers across the country.
The figure will still increase as we continue to accept and process the notices of loss of more affected farmers during the duration of this drought phenomenon.
The adjustment of farms and claims validation activities are ongoing and checks are being distributed continuously Sir.
Thank you and best regards Sir.
Very truly yours,
Jovy Bernabe
President, PCIC
