Do it yourself! WRAPPING FRUITS WITH BAGS ENSURE ‘PURE’ ABACA SEEDS

Thanks to the transport strike, I was able to spend one more day in my farm and witnessed the bagging of the first fruit of the Abaca I planted September last year.
Bagging the fruit is very important in ensuring that the seeds produced by the fruiting Abaca are “pure.”
Leavng it unprotected by a bag could result in cross-pollination and render the seeds useless.
The bagging is a must not only because there are bananas being grown not far from my farm but also because I have actually planted four distinct varieties of Abaca.
Producing Abaca planlets through seed germination is one of the three methods of propagating Abaca.
(I took these photos of the Abaca fruit being bagged by my cousin Mark.)
