Drones, Machines! Hi-Tech Agriculture Draws Youth Back To Farming

More young boys are getting involved with farming these days.
They are, however, not interested in the backbreaking form of farming but hi-tech Agriculture.
Two days ago, when I brought two units of the WMR 801 Multi-Purpose Cultivator to our Sorghum and Soybean Trial Farm in Rangayen, Alamada, two young men both below 30 volunteered to operate the machines.
After a 2-day training and orientation by a technician of Harbest Agribusiness Corp., Ludy Pugado, the two young men handled the machines like experts.
Clark Echavez, son of a long-time supporter, his friend, Raymart Pilapil and their younger brothers, Carlo and Rommel, are our newest farming staff in our Sorghum and Soybeans Project.
They were so fascinated with the WMR 801 Multi-Purpose Cultivator that they looked like children who could not stop playing with their toys.
Yesterday, even with a slight drizzle, the boys cleaned rows of Sorghum and Soybeans without let-up until late afternoon.
Our Agricultural Drone, the DJI Agras T30 is also operated by three young kids.
Our CLAAS Farm Tractors are also operated by young men in their early 30s.
The conclusion here is that if we modernize Agriculture and make it profitable, we will draw more young people back to farmimg.
