A Bamboo Goat House using treated Bamboo Poles is now nearing completion and this was built for selected Spanish Goat Breeders for the Philippine Goat Upgrading Program.
This Bamboo Goat House was inspired by Undersecretary Deogracias Victor “DV” Savellano who headed the National Livestock Program of the Dept. of Agriculture.
DV was passionate about promoting Bamboo, as he was with Livestock and Poultry, and he wanted the poultry and small ruminants industry to extensively use Bamboo in their housing facilities.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. cited this in his statement on the passing of DV Savellano:
“Like the bamboo plant he so passionately promoted, DV embodied quiet strength, resilience, and humility. He worked selflessly for the betterment of others, driven by his love for the Filipino people. His leadership in Ilocos Sur and the Department of Agriculture stands as a testament to his commitment to public service and his vision of a brighter future for all,” Sec. Laurel said.
Sadly, DV Savellano did not live long to see the completion of his dreamed “Bamboo Goat House,” which was actually part of his Bamboo Industry Development Advocacy.
Still, in memory of DV Savellano, we will call this Bamboo Goat House Model as the DV Bamboo Goat House.
Rest In Peace, my dear friend!
