‘DV Savellano’ Model
Bamboo Goat House
As a tribute to Agriculture Undersecretary Deogracias Victor “DV” Savellano who passed away last week, a model Goat House made extensively of treated Bamboo Poles will be named after him.
It was Usec DV, then head of the National Livestock and Poultry Program of the DA, who proposed to Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. the establishment of a Spanish Goat and Dorper Sheep Nucleus Farm in North Cotabato.
To support his Bamboo Farming Advocacy, Usec DV wanted to build a model Goat House extensively using Bamboo.
The DV Savellano Bamboo Goat House Model is now complete.
Sadly, Usec DV will not be around to witness its blessing.
By next month, the DV Savellano Bamboo Goat House will serve as a breeding facility of the Spanish Goats from the US to be utilized in the native Goat Upgrading Program.
By April, 3,500 Wool-less Dorpers will arrive in North Cotabato from Australia.
This will mark the start of an aggressive Goat and Sheep Development Program envisioned by Sec. Kiko Laurel.
