GOVERNMENT MUST TEACH PEOPLE

THEY ARE EAGLES WHO COULD FLY!

This is Part II of the story of my 9-year love affair with the people of my province.

I no longer have political plans or ambition but it feels good to remember that at one time in my life, I was able to make the people of my province feel that there is a government that cares for them.

As Secretary of Agriculture now whose area of coverage has been expanded to cover the entire Philippine Archipelago, I am nurturing another love affair, this time the millions of farmers and fishermen who produce food for this country.

It is a difficult task but I always pray to God that he will keep me humble and true to myself as a public servant.

I also fervently pray that the Lord will keep me away from the temptations which caused the fall of many other leaders before me and pain and disappointment for the people who expect so much from government.

Everyday, when I wake up, I also pray that He will give me a healthy body and mind because there is just so much to do with so little time!
