In the mouth of the 21-kilometer long Kabasalan River in Zamboanga Sibugay on Friday, I received a commitment of support from the people who, for me, matter most in this election – the lowly fisherfolk.
It was Ramon Magsaysay 2021 Awardee Roberto “Dodoy” Ballon, who led his people in rehabilitating the mangrove forest in the mouth of the Kabasalan River who informed me that the fisherfolk organizations all over the country had already selected five senatorial candidates whom they will support in the coming elections.
He said it was unanimously agreed that I would be one of the five candidates whom they will support.
More than the huge number of national membership that these organizations represent, this endorsement is very valuable to me because this indicates that I carry the hopes and aspiratioons of the country’s fisherfolk.
In the short message that he delivered, Dodoy Ballon said that my advocacies in fisheries and agriculture give them hope of a better life for them and their children.
