EVIARC Sweet In Benguet!

Very soon, farmers of Benguet will be able to plant, propagate and produce the world’s sweetest jackfruit, the EVIARC or Abuyog Sweet.
During their visit to the Braveheart Farms yesterday, Benguet Vice Gov. Ericson Felipe and several Provincial Board Members, said they will ask Gov. Melchor Diclas to support a program which would start the propagation of EVIARC Sweet not only for fruit production but also in support of the greening program of the province.
The EVIARC Sweet, a local jackfruit variety jointly developed by the Eastern Visayas Agricultural Research Center in Abuyog and the Visayas State University in Baybay, Leyte thrives well in the highlands.
It is one of the fruit tree species, along with the Breadfruit, which I am promoting for massive propagation.
Both are endemic tree species which are commercially viable.
Vice Gov. Felipe said they will initially acquire planting materials which could later serve as Mother Trees and sources of additional planting materials for distribution to farmers of Benguet.
