While the Farmers’ Harvest Festival is scheduled Sept. 10, actual harvest of the first Soybeans area planted in May started yesterday.
The Soybeans had reached maturity in the first area and these had to be manually harvested to prevent damage to the seeds.
The harvested beans wil be planted for the 3rd Cycle of our Soybeans Development Program which starts this month.
For the 3rd Cycle, our targeted expansion area is 2,000 hectares owned by individual farmers who will be engaged under a Growership Scheme.
Under the Growership Scheme, we will provide the seeds, the land preparation equipment, the inputs and the technical support, the value of which will be deducted from the proceeds.
The important component of the Growership Program is the Buy-Back Agreement which stipulates that all of the farmers’ produce will be bought by my group at an agreed price.
This will be the first model of its kind in Cotabato Province.
With this arrangement, hindi na matatakot ang farmer na babagsak ang presyo ng kanyang produkto pagdating ng anihan.
