There should be no doubt now that the demolition operation against presidential frontrunner Rody Duterte is intense and waged in all levels of society.
Not contented with the well-funded media offensive exposing Duterte’s alleged hidden wealth amounting to P2.4-B, the demolition operations has gone down to the grassroots level using faith and morality issues.
The administration party has now started distributing leaflets calling on the Catholic faithful to reject Duterte.
With one week to go before the elections, the Liberal Party (LP) would like to stoke the hatred of the Catholics against the leading presidential contender by reminding them of the Papal gaffe where Duterte used a cuss word while relating about the traffic jam created by the Pontiff’s visit to Manila two years ago.
In North Cotabato today, Duterte supporters recovered leaflets being distributed by local LP campaigners containing the issues against the leading presidential candidate and calling on the Catholic faithful to reject him.
Added to the demolition job against Duterte, LP operators have already started distributing money to local leaders including the barangay chairmen, mayors and governors.
In Iloilo Province two weeks ago, barangay chairmen were given P5,000 and mayors received P50,000 as the first tranche of the financial release from presidential candidate Manuel Roxas III through his finance officer, a certain Tawe Bediones.
The LP local operators have also threatened 4Ps beneficiaries that their cash assistance would be terminated if Roxas loses.
The demolition job seems to have backfired, however, as Duterte supporters have further solidified.
There seems to be no stopping the will of the common Filipino.
