Fascinating Colors Of Durio Graveolens

As I continued to learn more about the rare and exotic Durian species called Durio graveolens, I came across these colorful photos in the website YearOfTheDurian.com.
Native to just a few places in Southeast Asia, including in Palawan and the islands of Sulu and Tawitawi, Durio graveolens comes in three distinct colors – lipstick red, orange and yellow.
The thorns are not as hard as the regular Durian and its size is just about 1/4 of the huge Durian.
While the fruits are not commercially available yet, several nurseries in Mindanao are already propagating Durio graveolens, including the nursery of Bernard Bautista jr. in Patulangon, Makilala.
I have acquired grafted seedlings from Bernard which I will plant in my farm nursery hoping to make these Mother Trees for future asexual propagation.
Grafted, the Durio graveolens starts bearing fruits at 3 to 4 years while its seeds are proven to be outstanding rootstocks for the grafting of the regular Durian varieties.
