Hollywood, California – On our way to Palm Springs for the Southern California Trade and Agri Fair, I dropped by the iconic Wild Card Gym to watch the final sparring of the fighting Senator Manny Pacquiao.
The 37-year-old former street kid, turned Senator of the Philippines showed the characteristic speed as he engaged sparring mate Rey Beltran in a 4-round scrimmage.
Later, he pounded the punch mitts held by longtime trainer Freddie Roach as conditioning coach Justin Fortune watched.
At 3 p.m. today, Team Pacquiao will take a 4-hour trip to Las Vegas where the Pacman will attempt to win another world championship – the WBO Welterweight Crown held by Mexican Jessie Vargas.
Pacman is the only boxer in history to win titles in eight weight categories from Flyweight to Super Welterweight.
The fight is set for 12 rounds at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
