As thousands of farming families beg for food assistance from government in the wake of the 5-month long drought, Presidential frontrunner Rody Duterte tells the nation how he would feed the 105-million Filipinos when he outlines his Food Security Agenda on April 21 at the Royal Mandaya Hotel in Davao City.
Some 300 farmers representing the different sectors in agriculture are expected to attend the activity, the first of its kind to be held involving a Presidential candidate.
Duterte, who is now leading in all national surveys, has earlier declared that when elected President he would consider it a “moral obligation” to provide “Available and Affordable Food” for the Filipino people.
On April 21, at the end of the Food Security Forum which is expected to gather farmer and agribusiness leaders from all over the country, Duterte will outline his program on how to make the country’s farms and farming families more productive to be able to provide the food requirements of the country.
“I do not understand why we have to import food items which the Filipino farmers could very well produce with guidance and assistance from government,” he earlier said.
Duterte will be the guest of honour in the launching of the book “Feeding Millions” which I wrote. The book discusses in detail the reforms that the Presidential frontrunner intends to implement in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.
Forum secretariat head Pinky Millomeda said participants will be entitled to a copy of the the book “Feeding Millions.”
Copies of the book will also be on sale during the forum.
Interested participants are requested to immediately contact the secretariat as there are only 100 slots left.
