Along the way to Zamboanga City from North Cotabato, I stopped by a small roadside fish market in Sultan Naga Dimaporo town in Lanao del Norte to check on the prices.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover that a fish species good for “paksiw” was sold for only P50 per kilo, large “pusit” P120 and the expensive Skipjack weighing over 5 kilos sold for P150 per kilo.
This is proof that there are places in the country where prices of fish are a lot lower.
It simply is because fishermen catch more than the local market could absorb.
What is needed is to link them up with the market.
