Monday, Laguna; Tuesday, Bataan; Wednesday, Cebu; Thursday and Friday, Surigao del Norte.
The long and tiring but rewarding week which marked the 119th Foundation Anniversary of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries ends today in the town of Malimono, Surigao del Norte with the launching of an Easy Access Credit Program for farmers and fisher folks.
Yesterday, shortly after arriving from Cebu City, I led the group to my favorite Surigao City fish market where we bought fish, crabs, shrimps, shells and seaweeds and had these cooked in an eatery right inside the market.
In the afternoon, a farmers and fishermen’s forum was held at the provincial capitol in Surigao City.
Early this morning, I was picked up in my hotel by a farmer who wanted to bring.me to his farm where he said the irrigation system was not working, farm implements are absent and where they would like to see more interventions from government.
