Many friends had asked me in the past whether I would like to live in another country like the United States of America where almost 5 out of 10 Filipinos would like to settle in.
My answer had been very consistent: NO!
America is a nice country to visit but it could be a lonely place when you are old and alone.
Besides, I cannot even imagine leaving my farm behind with all my chicken and the fruits available everyday at very low prices.
Yesterday, I saw the eyes of my American visitors twinkle when they saw the long line of fruit stands in Tupi, South Cotabato where I and former Senator Ping Lacson dropped by to buy Amas bananas, Red Papaya, Avocado and Pineapple.
Coby Kriegshauser, owner of Scott Seed Company of Texas, was so amazed by the very low price of fruits that he gave the vendor P1,000 for fruits he bought worth only P450.
“I wish we could stay here forever,” Coby said.
Kung Amerikano nga gustong manirahan sa Pilipinas, ako pa kayang Pilipino?
Ayusin natin ang bansa natin, napakaganda ng Pilipinas!
It’s the only country we have!
