Gaining support! RAMGO HYBRID RICE SEEDS JOIN UPLAND PILOT FARMS

The Upland Rice Farming Program of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) has gained another supporter with the participation of Ramgo Seeds Philippines, one of the well-known seed companies in the country.
Ramgo Seeds will be introducing its Kimbee Series of rice varieties which are adaptable to dry seeding and upland planting.
Joey Abujado of Ramgo Seeds International said the Kimbee Hybrid Rice Seeds series posted very high yield up of 12.6-metric tons in dry seeding experiments in Mindanao.
Ramgo has offered their seeds to be planted in the 11 pilot farms for free, including the inputs and fertilizers.
Ramgo becomes the second major seed company to support the experimental Upland Rice Farming Program of MinDA which aims to utilize the vast upland areas of Mindanao, mostly tribal domains.
Seedworks Philippines is the first partner of MinDA in the program using its hybrid seed variety TH 82.
The initiative is supported by PhilRice, the local government units and farmer-cooperators.
It is aimed at establishing demonstration areas which would serve as field testing sites for the hybrid seeds and the technology and also a field school for the farmers.
This program is a component of the socio-development initiatives of MinDA in the region which aims to increase productivity and address poverty.
