It has been 16 days since I planted the Ilocos Garlic cloves in 5 experimental plots in my farm in Kidapawan City.
Today, we applied “Top Dressing” using Vermicast, the organic compost produced by earthworms called the “African Night Crawlers.”
The Garlic cloves were planted in elevated plots because of our previous experience where Garlic growth was adversely affected by waterlogging resulting from heavy rains.
It is still a long way to go before the Garlic would be harvested but this early, I am happy with the growth of the young Garlic.
With God’s blessing, our efforts could pave the way for the establishment of large Garlic farms in Mindanao.
Soon, we may no longer be so dependent on importation for our Garlic requirements.
