One of Bohol’s pioneering media institution, the Bohol Chronicle and its radio station DYRD, will be the partner of my farm, Braveheart Farms and Nursery, in the planting of Giant Bamboos under my Green Philippines Advocacy.
Bohol Chronicle President Peter Dejaresco, second generation
Dejaresco in the media business, proposed to me the idea of launching a Giant Bamboo Greening Program in Bohol as part of the 60th Foundation Anniver of the newspaper.
My farm will provide 10,000 Giant Bamboo propagules as part of my commitment for the rehabilitation of the Typhoon Odette ravaged areas.
The Bonol Chronicle, on the other hand, will identify the areas where the Giant Bamboo Propagules would be planted.
Ito lang ang puede kong maitulong sa Bohol as the province recovers from the devastation of Typhoon Odette and I believe this is a more sustainable program in addressing flooding, soil erosion and landslide.
This project could also contribute to the Food Security Program of the province because of the abundance of bamboo shoots while opening opportunities for a new industry involving the production of Engineered Bamboo for housing and construction purposes.
The 10,000 propagules will be shipped to Bohol next week and will be kept in a nursery to be established by Peter Dejaresco’s Bohol Chronicle.
